Low Brake Output Voltage On Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller When Testing

Question:

I need help on the p3 brake controller. I have installed on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. Also using direct wiring harness to plug and play premiered factory tow pkg. With the vehicle parked, NO TRAILER CONNECTED, I get the following readings. Battery Voltage 12.6 Stoplight 12.1 Output Voltage 2.1 Output current 0.0 Are these numbers correct? I also noticed that when the trailer is connected , it also reads “output current 0.0” This is either the tow vehicle running. Thanks in advance. .

The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 has a proportional design which means it will not show full brake output while parked with the brake pedal. Therefore the low output voltage while stopped is not a cause for concern and is in fact, normal operation.
