Recommended Flat Towing Equipment For A 2010 Honda Fit Sport

Question:

I am considering a 2010 Honda Fit Sport with auto trans to tow with our 2021 Entegra Qwest Mercedes 3500. I am new to flat towing. Can you give me a complete list of required products needed and the price? I do have a 2inch receiver on the Qwest. Thanks.

You'll need a tow bar, tow bar wiring kit, base plate, braking system, and safety cables. I have the following recommendations for your 2010 Honda Fit listed below:

Tow Bar: Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch - 6,000lbs Item # RM-522. The hassle-free latches on this hitch-mounted tow bar let you easily release your car, even at a hard angle or on unlevel ground. Stainless steel, telescoping arms and large hookup radius make connecting a snap. Easily folds up to store on your RV.

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 7-Wire to 6-Wire Straight Cord Item # RM-152-98146-7. This complete kit includes everything you need to connect your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights to your towed car. Diodes prevent feedback and wire your car to operate as a combined system.

Base Plate: Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms Item # 521190-1. Roadmaster's EZ Twistlock series brackets are virtually invisible, easy to mount and simple to remove. Brackets install on your Honda Fit's frame to provide attachment points for your tow bar.

Braking System: Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System - Proportional Item # HM39524. This system will easily switch between proportional or full braking. One-touch Auto Start makes setup fast and easy and included charge line kit will keep your battery charged while towing.

Safety Cables: Curt Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables with S-Hooks - 42" Long - 3,500lbs - Qty 2 Item # C80136. The coiled design eliminates slack - keeps cables from dragging on the ground.

Note: If towing for an extended time you can remove fuse number 61 to prevent draining your battery. To make life easier you can install the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicles - 30-Amp Maxi Fuse Item # RM-76515 to make removing the fuse as easy as flipping a switch.
