How To Wire Fan On MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent MA00-04500K In 2014 Jayco Swift SLX 15BH

Hello eTrailer, First, thank you for the past orders and customer service, I always think of you first and you all have been great. I have a very small travel trailer 2014 Jayco Swift SLX 15bh and want to replace a passive vent 14x14 with a powered fan. THere isnt any power to the vent currently but there is a ligonht nearby within 12inch and I was wondering if I could tie into that power for a motorized fan. The light is controlled on the light housing and not by a wall switch. I am also worried about using the light and the fan at the same time on the same circuit and if that would cause an issue with too much power being drawn. Any advice would be helpful. oh...also would you recommend an in-line fuse?

For your 2014 Jayco Swift SLX 15BH the MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote - Powered Lift - 10 Speed - Smoke # MA00-04500K will fit your 14" x 14" roof vent opening perfectly, but you will need to make sure your roof is between 2" and 6-1/2" thick. If it is not you can build it up using lumber.

Regarding how to get power from your trailer to the fan, there is a few different ways. The light you mentioned may work but it will depend on the rating of the circuit. If your trailer has an on-board battery you can check the fuse for that wire to see its rating, or if it does not have a on-board battery it is powered by the 12v power pin on your trailer.

The # MA00-04500K only pulls around 5 amps, so more than likely you will not have any issues as those small lights don't typically pull hardly any amps.

If you are unable to confirm the rating of that circuit and are not comfortable with that installation method, your only other option would be running power to the fan from either the on-board battery or 7-way connector. Using # 16-1-1 will be plenty though you may need to get creative on routing the wire to keep it from being visible. I would recommend adding a 10-amp inline fuse using fuse holder # C58470-1 and a 10 amp fuse.
