What Is Required To Install Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver 76021 On 2016 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk
Question:
I would like to install this on my 2016 Jeep Renegade trailhawk since I am looking for a 2inch htich. I understand that I do not have to drill holes since I have the trail hawk model. Will i still need to the muffler and recut the heat shield? If so can you recommend another hitch? Also what is the recommended extension I should buy to clear the back bumper?

If your 2016 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk does not have the factory tow hooks then you will still need to drill a 1" diameter hole to install the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76021. The vehicles with the factory tow hooks are the only ones that do not require drilling.
In addition you will still need to slightly trim the heat shield near where the hitch gets installed, and bend or remove a small section of the muffler bracket. This is required for all of the 2" trailer hitch receivers for your Jeep.
Typically extensions are not used as the accessory you are using should have a shank long enough to clear the rear bumper. A hitch extension will reduce the capacities of the trailer hitch receiver by 50%, which will greatly reduce what you will be able to tow or carry.
For example if you are planning on towing a ball mount like what is included with the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900 measures 8-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole, so it will stick out plenty without an extension.
You will also need a vehicle wiring harness # 118651 to control the lights on your trailer.
I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
