Question:

I am planning a trip in my 2018 highlander. I want to put a luggage carrier on top. My highlander does have the luggage racks on it.but it also has a sunroof. I am concern about the sunroof with a luggage carrier on it

You can certainly use a rooftop cargo box on your 2018 Toyota Highlander with a factory roof rack and sunroof, and if you leave the sunroof closed, there won't be any issues. That said, opening the sunroof could be a different story; while it's highly unlikely there will be interference with a clamp-on cargo box, the clamps will extend past your crossbars an inch or so.

I assume you have the panoramic sunroof on your '18 Highlander, and from what I know of that sunroof, it does jut upwards just a bit when it is opened. I recommend checking to see how much the sunroof extends upwards when you open it. If there isn't much upward movement of the sunroof, then what you can use is a rooftop cargo box from Rhino-Rack:

- Rhino-Rack Zenith MasterFit Rooftop Cargo Box # RRRMFZ66

I have added a photo below which shows the clamps of the MasterFit # RRRMFZ66 when it is installed on a roof rack so you can get an idea of how far past the crossbar they extend. This cargo box is the best option to carry luggage or other gear on your Highlander, because it has 14 cubic feet of cargo space to haul plenty of gear, uses the aforementioned clamps which you just have to tighten to mount to your roof rack, opens from both sides for easy access, and comes with locks to keep your cargo safe and sound.

I have added a link below to a video review for you to check out as well of the Rhino-Rack Zenith MasterFit Rooftop Cargo Box # RRRMFZ66.
