Does Using Extra Long Ball Mount BM20 Reduce The Tongue Weight Capacity Of Trailer Hitch Receiver?
Question:

Expert Reply:
The Brophy Ball Mount - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 15-3/4" Long - 10,000 lbs # BM20 you were looking at has a 1,000lb tongue weight rating and 10,000lb trailer weight rating so you will have no issues using it with your camper that has 500lbs of tongue weight.
Extended ball mounts do not reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch like a hitch extender does as the ball mount is one piece where the extender adds another connection in.
This ball mount uses a 1" hitch ball so you will need either 1-7/8" hitch ball # 19260, 2" hitch ball # 63845, or 2-5/16" hitch ball # C40007.
To keep the # 80232 secured to your trailer hitch receiver I recommend adding the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches - Flush - 2-5/8" Span - Chrome # e98880.
I included a few video of the products mentioned reviews for you to take a look at.
