Vehicle Wiring Harness Functionality For a 2017 Toyota Tacoma

Question:

Hello, If I use your trailer wiring kit for my 2017 Tacoma, would the trailer lights still run as regular while the kit is in use status? Do they run all at the same time truck tail lights and trailer lights or if the kit is installed only the kit will run not the truck lights? Thanks and hope all is well.

With the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56349 installed on your 2017 Toyota Tacoma your truck lights will continue to function at all times. The powered converter draws power from the vehicle wiring to send to the trailer tail lights. This will protect your factory wiring by not pulling excessive power through the wiring.

When a trailer is not connected there is no power sent to the 4-way as there is not a complete circuit to power. If the converter were to become damaged or lose power your Tacoma tail lights will still continue to function as if the wiring harness were not installed.

I recommend using the Mounting Brackets # 18144 and # C57202 to secure the 4-way harness on the back of your Tacoma. These brackets will allow you to secure the 4-way to the receiver without having to drill holes into your Tacoma.
