Parts Needed to Tow a Trailer That has a 2 Inch Coupler with a 2018 Honda Civic
Question:
I was in the market for a hitch for my 2018 Honda Civic ex hatchback and saw that you only allow 1-1/4 inch ball mounts to be hooked up to it. My camper, being with in Honda’s recommended towing limit, only has a 2 inch ball receiver. I was wondering if there was a way to get a 2 inch ball on a mount for my civic. Thanks!

There are definitely options to get a 2 inch ball attached to a mount that will fit a 1 1/4 inch hitch.
To start, you will need a hitch like the Curt # C92UR. This will be a mostly hidden hitch and will accept a 1 1/4 inch ball mount. Finding the correct ball mount will depend on how high the coupler on your trailer sits when completely level. As the # C92UR will sit at 11 inches, you will then compare the 2 measurements to see if you need a rise or drop, and how much.
As an example, the Draw-Tite # 3593 will have a 2 1/8 inch rise and 2 3/4 inch drop, A 2 inch ball can be mounted on this mount, but it must have a 3/4 inch diameter shank, like the Draw-Tite # 19258.
