Is There a Trailer Tire for an 8 inch Wheel that Has Higher Speed Rating
Question:
I have a small boat trailer with 4.8x8 tires. I could use a little bit of height to get the trailer nice and level behind my tow vehicle. The extra 2 inches in diameter of this tire will do perfect. However, my current wheels are rated 81 mph as I do highway runs. I’d settle for 75. These have no rating listed though? The only other tire that would fit is a 4.8x12 width issues make this my only other choice but would add 2 more inches in height and make the tongue angle down towards the hitch. I already have a 5.5 inch spun upside down to make it close to level and don’t want to have to source an even taller one at more expense. Help?

Expert Reply:
The only tire size we have close to what you need with the higher speed rating is the # AM30000 which has the 65 mph speed rating. In the larger size everything we have is rated for up to 65 mph.
So for more height you could install a lift kit on the trailer like the part # LC87120 which will give you additional height of either 1-1/4 inch or 2-1/4 inch.
