If You Upgrade Trailer Tire Load Ranges Should You Increase PSI
Question:
I upgraded from D temperature to E ST225/75R15D max 65 psi to ST225/75R15E max 80 psi Do I put in the max at 80psi ? My load in the RV hasnt changed. That is all they had at the store.

Trailers tires, regardless of load or application will need to be filled to the max psi listed on the sidewall while cold. This is to ensure the correct temperature remains inside the tire as well as the correct wear pattern. If you upgrade tire load ranges then this can sometimes lead to a harsher ride so your first thought is to reduce pressure but this will unfortunately create issues with temperature and wear. This is the reason that you really shouldn't upgrade load ranges unless absolutely necessary. The correct load range for the trailer is chosen at the factory based on carrying capacity and trailer weight.
