Availability Of Replacement Hub For Older Axle W/ L68149 and LM11949 Bearing Combination
Question:
Hi, I am replacing my 4 bolt gub to a 5 on 4 1/2” bolt pattern but I’m having a hard time finding the right hub. The inner bearing needs to be 1 1/4” and the outer 3/4”. Thank you

I have a replacement axle option for you, but unfortunately there are not any hubs currently produced that use inner bearing # LM67048 (1-1/4" I.D.) and outer bearing # LM11949 (3/4" I.D.) and have the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern.
If your current hubs are still useable I recommend just replacing the bearings and sticking with them as that will be the most cost effective, though you will need to use wheels with the 4 bolt pattern.
If the hubs are damaged and cannot be removed the only option is to replace the axle entirely. To do this you will need to gather a few key pieces of information.
The first is the measurement from the hub face of one hub to the hub face on the other side of the axle. This gives us the length of axle you have.
Next is the measurement from center of one spring seat to the center of the other spring seat. This tells us how wide your frame is. This measurement is less crucial as spring seats can be cut off of an axle and moved to the correct location to match your frame.
Lastly is the axle rating. The easiest way to get this information is by checking the axle tag located on the center of the axle, as it will be on there as GAWR. If the axle tag is missing you can get a rough idea of the axle rating by taking the GVWR of the trailer and dividing it by the number of axles the trailer has.
For example if your trailer has an axle with a 3500lb rating then one option would be the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with EZ-Lube Spindles - 89" Long - 3,500 lbs # T3584F-EZ-8974 which has the correct 3500lb rating, a hub face measurement of 89" and a spring center measurement of 74" which are shown in the included diagram.
This axle uses the common inner bearing # L68149 and outer bearing # L44649 combination and would use idler hub # 84545UC1-EZ.
If you can provide the above information on your axle I would be happy to recommend a replacement.
I included a few video reviews for you to take a look at.
