Troubleshooting 4-way Connector On 2021 Toyota Highlander XLE Not Working

Question:

I have a 2021 Toyota Highlander XLE that came with the factory tow package. I bought the hitch from you and decided to buy the wiring harness switch directly from the dealer. When plugged in the lights on the trailer do not work. I know its the connection with my car since lights on the trailer work with different vehicles. If the car comes with the tow package shouldnt it come with the convertor in the wiring that is already ran so the trailer lights work? Why are my trailer lights not working? Where is the convertor located so I can double check that I have it?

The factory trailer connector port for the 4-way connector your purchased for your 2021 Toyota Highlander XLE with the Factory Tow Package is below the bumper on the driver side of the vehicle.

Since your Highlander has the factory tow package the connector should be active. Since you are not getting any power to the connector I recommend checking the engine bay fuse box for any missing fuses. The owner's manual I was able to find for your vehicle does not have a breakdown of the fuse box and each function so you will need to look at the description on the cover and look for ones that start with trailer.

It is not unheard of for the factory to install the tow package but not install the fuses required to activate it.
