Determining Correct Hanger Spacing For Installing Single-Axle Hanger Kit APS4 W/ 24-7/8" Leaf Spring

Question:

Hi, Can you tell me the proper mounting dimension for your APS4 leaf spring hanger kit with SP-222275 leaf spring? I have researched online and found a few conflicting dimensions. Thanks

The 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 5,300-lb Trailer Axles - 24-7/8" Long # SP-222275 you were looking at measures 24-7/8" long where the springs mentioned for the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs - 3-1/4" Front, 1-1/4" Rear # APS4 are all 25-1/4" long so the listed measurements will likely be a little too far apart for you.

With a 25-1/4" spring the spacing between the front and rear hangers center to center should be around 24-7/8", but since the spring you are wanting to use is 3/8" shorter you will need to reduce the spacing by 3/8" which will be around 24-1/2".

Now you will want to test fit these first and make sure you have the proper angle between the leaf spring and the rear hanger. This angle should not exceed 45 degrees.

Since trailer frames are all different it is important to verify the spring is set correctly before final welding, as minor adjustments to the spacing may be required.

Now the # APS4 does not include the U-bolt kits required to mount the axle to the springs so you will need # APUBR-8 assuming that you have a 3" diameter based on the weight rating of the spring you want.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
