Is Ground Clearance An Issue with EcoHitch On 2016 Ford Fusion

Question:

I am looking into installing a trailer hitch receiver and I like the idea of a Class 3 instead of a Class 2 receiver. I am however worried about the ground clearance and departure angle of the vehicle with receiver installed even before an actual hitch is installed in it. The ground clearance appears to be no lower than the muffler from the installation video but I suspect that the departure angle is significantly decreased and may have issues with horribly designed speed bumps or backing out of steep driveways.

The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7239 is a great option for a 2016 Ford Fusion. It has the larger 2" receiver tube opening which will greatly expand the variety of hitch mounted accessories to choose from. The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver in particular also offers a hidden design which makes for the best overall appearance. The only issue with using the larger 2" receiver tube opening is that it will reduce ground clearance more than the smaller 1-1/4" option, although marginal. The only time this can create an issue is with really steep driveways but so long as you keep this in mind there should not be any major issues.

I have attached an install video below on a newer model which will be the same as a 2016.
