Can Weight Distribution and Sway Control be Used on a Vehicle with Active Air Suspension
Question:
Do you have to drill the trailer tongue to install the brackets for the sway control or the spring bar brackets? Is this load distribution hitch compatable with the new RAM optional active air suspension system?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The dual-cam sway control brackets on the Strait-line weight distribution system, # RP66084, do require drilling into the trailer frame but the spring bar brackets do not. They are held in place with set screws.
If the active air suspension system can be easily deactivated, that would be ideal. If it cannot be easily turned off, you will first connect the trailer, then let the active air suspension system adjust. Then you will hook up the weight distribution spring bars. This may cause the system to re-level itself again but that is normal.
I have included a link to the installation instructions for this system along with a video showing a typical installation of a Strait-Line system, and a link to our FAQ article on weight distribution and sway control for you.
