2014 Mazda CX-9 Malone Roof Rack Fit
Question:
Hi, I have a 2014 Mazda CX-9 with factory side rails. I believe I saw a minimum spread of 24inch is possible with these crossbars but have been unable to find what the maximum spread is. I measured the spread of the rails at 42.5inch to the inside edge and 45.75inch to the outside edge and would like to know if these fit. I saw that you currently have the 58inch Malone crossbars MPG216 as confirmed to fit but these would be too wide for my taste.

Expert Reply:
The Malone AirFlow 2 Bars can be cut shorter. That will be your best option as the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack - Aero Crossbars - Raised, Factory Side Rails - Aluminum - 50" Long, part # MPG215, will not fit your 2014 CX-9, the bars are not wide enough.
The Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack - Aero Crossbars - Raised, Factory Side Rails - Aluminum - 58" Long, part # MPG216, will fit your vehicle. The aero bars are elliptical shaped to reduce noise and help with fuel efficiency. The bars have a t-channel, so they can work with any channel mounted accessories and any accessories that clamp to the crossbars. The rack locks, securing it to the vehicle. The maximum weight limit is 165lbs.There is not a specific maximum distance your bars can be from each other on the roof. Please remember that the weight is supposed to be distributed equally across the roof rack.
