Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch For 2021 Ford F-150 Pulling Jayco 199MBS Travel Trailer

Question:

I have a Jayco 199MBS with a dry tongue weight of 660lbs and a max tongue weight of 860lbs I do plan on sometimes having a dirt bike in the bed of the truck for trips and am looking at the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion - 10K GTW, 1K TW Or the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 12,000 lbs GTW, 1,200 lbs TW and I’m not sure which one would be the best option

Helpful Expert Reply:

I myself am a bigger fan of the Equal-i-zer weight distribution system over the Reese. I have dealt with a lot of the Equal-i-zer systems over the years and I find they work and last.

For your Jayco 199MBS I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37100ET. This hitch is designed for tongue weights between 600-1000lbs and a maximum trailer weight of 10,000lbs, which is where your Jayco will be.

You will need a 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216 to properly install the 2-5/16" ball that comes with the Equal-i-zer system.

I recommend using the Sway Bracket Jackets # EQ95-01-5150 to reduce the noise the hitch produces when maneuvering and to help the parts last longer. They reduce the steel on steel contact to allow the parts to last.
