Troubleshooting Draw Tite Brake Controller that Shows 9 Volts Regardless of Override Lever
Question:
I am getting a continuous 9 volts out of the truck side of the 7 blade plug brake connector, brake on or not. I see the dot on the controller. No number is visible. If I engage the manual over-ride, there is no change. It may have killed my trailer brake as now even when I bypass it and go 12 volts to the trailer side 7 blade, there is no brake engagement/or click etc. I suspect I have some internal short and will need to replace the unit. Not sure about the trailer. Any thoughts? Thanks,

Your brake controller is definitely shot at this point based on what you listed so it would be the correct time to replace it with something like the # TK63VR which is very reliable and great performing.
Since you put 12 volts on the brake output circuit and the brakes aren't activating I'd suspect you have a short on the circuit somewhere. Did the connection spark at all when you made it? I would also recommend just checking over all of the wiring and seeing if you can find any cuts or breaks and fix as needed.
