Can 17 Kayak And Bike Be Mounted On Upper Level of Yakima EasyRider Trailer Y08129?

Question:

It appears a 17foot sea kayak or canoe, and a bike can be mounted on the top rack level, is that correct? The pictures of kayaks on the bottom level look like they are just resting directly on the metal bars rather than cradles or pads. Is there a good way to use pads or cradles on the bottom level to protect non-poly kayaks? Can a canoe fit upside down on its gunwales on the bottom level?

You are correct that a 17' sea kayak or canoe can be mounted on the upper bars of the Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer item # Y08129, and still have room for a bike rack due to the 78" long upper crossbars.

I recommend using the Yakima HighRoad Roof Bike Rack - Wheel Mount - Clamp On item # Y02114 which will allow you to mount the bike to the upper crossbars.

To keep the kayaks from resting directly on the lower bars of the item # Y08129 I recommend using the Malone SaddleUp Pro Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs - Saddle Style - Rear Loading - Clamp On # MPG110MD which will fit the rear lower bars perfectly.

From the bottom of the lower level to the top is 21", so as long as your canoe is less than 21" tall it will fit upside down on the lower level.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
