2020 Mazda 6 With Rhino Rack Rooftop Cargo Bag Compatibility

Question:

Hi. I have a Rightline rooftop bag that I purchased to use with a Ford Fusion that I had. It worked well with the clips locked into the doorframe. However, I now have a 2020 Mazda 6 sedan, and although the clips hold the bag in place, it leaks quite badly in the rain and it’s very very noisy. I’m interested in getting these crossbars, but want to make sure that they will work with the straps pulling up on them instead of having a load placed on top of them. Also, can you place the bars far enough apart for the bag to be located between them. Thank you.

The bars will work with your vehicle as part of an aftermarket roof rack consisting of

Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars - Aluminum - Silver - 49" Long - Qty 2, part # RRVA126B-2,
Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars - Naked Roofs or Fixed Mounting Points - Qty 4, part # RRRLKVA, and the
Custom DK Fit Kit for 4 Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Roof Rack Legs - Naked Roof, part # DK387.

This rack has a weight limit of 165lbs. It has crossbars with a t-channel for any channel mounted accessories, but it also works with accessories that clamp to the bar. The bars are elliptical in shape to reduce noise and help with fuel efficiency. The rack is secured to the vehicle by locks. It is designed to clamp to the frame of the vehicle and due to this the attachment points are non-adjustable. So if the gap between your crossbars is not large enough for your bag to sit in between them there is nothing you can do about it. The distance between the bars on this rack will be 27 9/16". Your Rightline Rooftop bag is designed to work with or without a roof rack.
