Are Curt Q Series 5th Wheel Hitches Compatible with a Reese Sidewinder

Question:

I have a 2021 GMC 2500hd with the puck system. With the truck having a 6.5 foot bed. The dealership has ordered a sidewinder pin box and a comparable hitch. They ordered a BandW sidewinder with a Curt Q24 hitch will this work together? From what I have read it will not. Please add input.

Helpful Expert Reply:

You are correct that the a Reese Sidewinder is not compatible with a Curt Q series hitch like the # C37FR because of the conical axial bearing that's used in the head. For this reason you will need a different hitch that will allow you to safely use a Sidewinder pinbox.

Instead you can use the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package - Slide Bar Jaw - 16,000 lbs # C47FR, which will be compatible with your Sidewinder pinbox and will drop right in to the factory pucks on your 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD. You'll also need the compatible Sidewinder Wedge # C16991 to keep the king pin from rotating inside the hitch head.
