Clamp-On Weight Distribution Hitch For 700 to 900 lb Tongue Weight
Question:
Getting rpod 202. gross weight 6485 lbs so tw can range from 648 lb to 972 lb. Couple of trips planned before new tow vehicle arrives. Will be renting 3/4 ton from enterprise for those trips. Either ram 2500 or ford f250. Won’t know which until pick up. Pretty sure i need wdh with clamp on attachment to move from truck to truck. Trailer will have husky friction sway bar but open to included sway control. Have shank but open to having to purchase included shank for right wdh. Thanks.

Thank you for all that info and we do have the perfect option for your needs, which is a weight distribution hitch for your range of tongue weight. I do highly recommend a hitch with sway control as a friction sway bar really isn't going to do as much to control sway as a hitch with built-in sway control.
For your trailer with a 6,500 lb GVWR, your tongue weight will very likely be in the 700 lb to 900 lb range, and the best option for that is a hitch from Fastway:
- Fastway e2 Weight Distribution with 2-Point Sway Control # FA94-00-1033
This system is rated for tongue weights between 600 lbs and 1,000 lbs, so your trailer will have a tongue weight in the middle of this range, which is exactly what you want. It also does not come with a shank since you mentioned you have one, but if you need a different rise or drop you can get a new shank such as the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Shank - 10-1/4" Rise, 5-1/2" Drop # FA92-02-4214 or 12-1/2" Rise 9-3/4" Drop # FA92-02-4315.
The Fastway e2 # FA94-00-1033 has superior sway control created by friction at two points on the brackets and is going to give you a much more controlled (and safe) ride than other options. The e2 is also really easy to set up, especially compared to systems that use chains, saving you a lot of of time. I also really like the Fastway because it is easily the best value among weight distribution hitches, with a unique combination of relative cost-effectiveness and high quality.
The only other thing you will need is a hitch ball for this hitch, the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems # EQ91-00-6120.
