Roof Bike Rack For 2021 Toyota Prius Prime With Factory OEM Crossbars

Hello, I drive a 2021 Prius Prime Limited with OEM factory cross bars. Is the Thule Bigmouth roof bike rack compatible with my current setup or do I require additional adapters? Thanks!

While there are bike racks that will work for your 2021 Toyota Prius Prime with factory crossbars, the Thule Big Mouth is only a fit for square bars, and there isn't an adapter that will allow it to fit on factory bars. So while I realize this isn't the news you were looking for, the only option available to transport your bike on that rack is with a new bike rack.

There are a pair of options I recommend, and they have different price points so you can determine the right one for you:

- Rhino-Rack Hybrid Roof Bike Rack # RRRBC050

- Swagman Race Ready Roof Bike Rack # S64705

The Swagman and Rhino-Rack are both wheel-mounted bike racks, which are great because they won't make contact with your bike's frame, and also easy to load your bike onto.

Both bikes have locks on the ratcheting arm to secure your bike onto the rack, but the Rhino-Rack has an added cable lock, and can also lock to your Prius Prime's roof rack for added protection, while the Swagman can't. Another difference is that the Rhino-Rack is slightly lighter (15 lbs vs. 20 lbs) and a bit easier to mount because while it clamps to the rear crossbar, the front of the Rhino-Rack attaches to your crossbars with a rubber-coated stainless steel strap. The Swagman attaches to your roof rack with clamps at both the front and the rear.
