Auto Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2018 Ram 2500 without OEM Rail Kit
Question:
It looks like my question is identical to another one with one exception. I need a sliding fifth wheel hitch to pull an RV with GW 16,600 / DW 13,500 Unfortunately, i dont have the pucks on this truck. I have the Laramie 2FH option, but no tow package. Regarding the hitches, it appears that for some of the sliding hitches, they are actually slotted. So you have to stop, get out of the truck, move the hitch back, get back in and make the turn, get out and reposition the hitch forward, get back in and go. I have never seen anyone doing that at a busy intersection or anywhere else so i am confused. It appears the better model is the one that slides as you turn and you never have to get out. Im thinking i need an 18k hitch. Which fifth wheel sliding hitch while you are turning, will work for my truck. I have no brand preference, but i really like one i saw with a rack and pinion mechanism built into the sliding part for controlled movement. Thank you for your help.

For an auto sliding fifth wheel hitch that you could use in your 2018 Ram 2500 short bed the Demco Hijacker part # DM8550034 which will never require you to get out of the truck and operate the slider mechanism. Then for a rail kit that fits your 2018 Ram 2500 you'd just want the part # DM8552025-71 and you'd be set.
