Recommendations to Improve Suspension System on Keystone Outback 33RL Travel Trailer
Question:
I am trying to solve a condition that has us rethinking camping all together! Keystone Outback 33RL camper 8800 dry 10K GVWR with a 2020 F350 7.3 gasser and Equilizer 4-point sway control hitch. We just came back from a trip only a couple of hours away with light traffic and felt like I was white-knuckling all the way. The feedback to the TV from lousy roads made the trip unbearable. I followed everything offered by the hitch mfg. to ensure proper setup, btw. My question is this: Can I do anything to the suspension of the trailer to reduce the bounce and brick-like RQ in the TV? A visit to LCI prompted this email, the info on their site is poor, but know I can count on you. Brand preference not a factor, btw. Just want a solve. SD F350 is bone stock, but ordered with 5’er prep and corresponding suspension u/g. Also FX4 if that makes a difference. I am open to making TV adjustments if warranted, despite its 1200mi odometer.

The basic suspension components that come on most travel trailers like your Keystone Outback 33RL and 5th wheels do not address any of the road shock and vibration like a traditional suspension system.
I recommend the Dexter E-Z Flex Suspension Kit # K71-652-00 to help your suspension flex properly. You will need to confirm that your current equalizer has bolt hole center spread between 5-1/4" to 6-1/4" on the lower 2 holes. The kit includes new wet bolts that will allow you to add grease to the inside of the bolts to ensure they move smoothly. The LubriMatic LMX Industrial Strength Grease # L11390 is the best type of grease to use on all these points as the weight of your Outback is so high.
The SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs w/ Line Relocation Bracket # SS26MV will greatly reduce the road shock and bouncing that you are experiencing. The jounce springs will help to absorb those shocks by compressing and reducing the load on the leaf springs. The springs are progressive and will become stiffer when compressed. I have linked a video below showing how they are installed and perform.
