Is 36 inches Enough Clearance for Weight Distribution Lift Brackets on a V-Nose Trailer
Question:
The lift-bracket mounting specs say mount about 30inch back from hitch ball. Is that 30inch to the center of the ball to the center of the lift-bracket hook? My V-nose trailer measures about 36inch from the center of the ball to the V-nose metal. Is this sufficient room for a plain RP66087 kit or do I need to figure in a RP58305 to get the job done. Never used anything like a RP58305 before but I do know lifting the other style into position can take some effort. What kind of gymnastics will be required to hook this rigging up?

I spoke to my contact at Reese and he informed me that yes, the center of the mounting bracket for the lift bracket will be about 30 inches back from the center of the ball portion of the coupler. I told him that you have 36 inches back from the coupler to where the metal of your trailer begins and he said that would be plenty of room.
Normally V-nose trailers do not have that much clearance and require the use of Chain Hangers # RP58305, but since you have 36 inches you would be fine without them.
I attached an FAQ article on weight distribution systems that you might find informative also.
