Trailer Lights Are Not Working With Factory Connector On My 2004 Ford Escape

Question:

I put a hitch on my 04 escape muself and pluged in the proper wire to the wire behind the pannel and no lights are working this vehicle did not have the towing package on it when I bought it why wont it work and do I need something else that Im missing?

If your vehicle was not manufactured with the factory tow package the connector will be in the proper place but it will not have the wiring completed to it. In this case you will need to hardwire your vehicle with a 4-Pole Hardwire Kit with Converter, item # 119178KIT. This kit includes everything needed to hardwire your vehicle with a 4-way trailer connector and a circuit tester so you can find the correct wires to splice into and check your 4-way connector when the wiring is complete.
