Installing Mount-n-Lock SafetyStruts to Tube Frame

Question:

My frame box beams stop short of the main body with a flat single piece of metal welded to the ends across the whole back. The bumper is welded to a piece of tubular frame maybe 5” in length that goes through that flat metal and is welded. These two pieces don’t even fit tight against the side of the box beams. How would I use these brackets to support my bumper?

Expert Reply:

From how you're describing your set up, it sounds like your bumper is attached to a tube frame, and there is a way for you to install the support brackets, which are the following part number:

- Mount-n-Lock SafetyStruts Universal RV Bumper Support Brackets # MO34VR

What you'll need to do is drill small holes into the tube frame, and then use the included self-tapping bolts to mount the brackets. I have added cut outs from the instructions which show how the brackets install to a tube bumper, and have also linked the directions as well as a video review below.
