Adding A Wiring Harness To Your HItch Receiver Of 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
Hello. I have a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4. This weekend I installed the MOPAR OEM hitch so I can utilize the recently purchased bike rack on its way from etrailer. I initially planned to run the MOPAR OEM hitch wiring harness. I watched a few YouTube videos, and it looks a bit more involved than what I want to do. Id also like to avoid paying Jeep to flash the onboard computer and enable the connection. I dont plan on towing anything with this hitch since I have a truck, but I am thinking that some day I may want to tow a small trailer. A 4 pin connector would be fine. I found the part 118727 on etrailer.com and this seems like a more reasonable install. Id like to keep the factory look as much as possible. Id like to avoid having a 4 pin connector just hanging there in the connector cutout on the factory hitch. Do you sell an adapter that your part 118727 can plug into that will allow me to use the cutout for the plug that already exists in my OEM hitch? I have attached a pic of the cutout. It looks like HM40975 may work? But I believe I need an adapter. If no adapter, can HM40975 be used by soldering the 118727 to the applicable pins in HM40975? I do have a soldering gun and have some experience in soldering.

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part # 118727, will work with your vehicle. I also understand the desire to have a clean look after installing your trailer hitch wiring harness, I can attest to how sloppy it can look on your vehicle as I have a trailer hitch wiring harness hanging on my vehicle. Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee that the 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket, part # HM40975, will fit into this cut out in your hitch receiver. While I know it is the same connector that is found on many factory hitch receivers I am not sure if it is the same one used on your Jeep OEM hitch receiver. It might work with some customization but that is something that we cannot recommend.
I have included a product description link that has some pictures showing where other customers have installed their 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket and video installation links below.
