2010 Big Dog Sunnybrook Toy Hauler Landing Gear No Longer Lifting Camper

Question:

We have a 2010 Sunnybrook FH399 toy hauler with hitch weight of 3070 and gross dry weight of 13160. Currently it has VMC900R on the cap of the landing leg. We have replace the motor with a new as the brackets had sheared off. The problem is this seems to not be a high enough weight rated leg set. When under full load it binds up and will not lift. We have to jack it up on the frame then the legs will come down a little more. Then jack up more on the frame and the legs will come down even more. Only works if all the weight is off. Any suggestions. New la ding legs with a higher weight rating?

The Replacement Lead Leg # LG-177202 and Replacement Follow Leg # LG-177201 are going to be the correct replacements for the VMC900R jacks that are currently on your 2010 Sunnybrook Toy Hauler. These have a maximum capacity of 4,000lbs for each leg.

It may be a good time to replace the Gearbox # LC276602 as well if you did not do that when you installed the new motor. This could have become damaged when the motor became damaged.

The Motor and Switch Kit # LG-217884 is rated for 5,500lbs if the motor that was swapped in is not capable of the weight of your Sunnybrook.

It does seem odd to me that the legs are no longer capable of lifting the camper with the new motor. This leads me more to believe that the motor or gearbox are the likely culprit. But since the parts are going on 12 years old it is not unlikely that the parts have just worn out and aren't functioning properly or as smoothly. This may be what caused the motor to shear off the brackets.
