2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness Battery Connection Location
Question:
Quick question: I believe the battery is located under the passenger seat on my daughters 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/o the tow package. Is there a reason that the directions show running the hot wire under the car rather than running it under the carpet to the actual battery location? Thank you in advance for your response. As soon as I find an answer to the hot wire question I will be placing an order with etrailer for the parts to complete the addition of a hitch on her Jeep.

The Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT is a universal kit that can be used with virtually every vehicle produced. The instructions for it are very generic and show it this was as most vehicles will have the battery underneath the hood as opposed to in the interior of the vehicle.
I recommend using the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118727 as this is a custom made harness for your 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have included a video liked below of it installed on a 2018 Grand Cherokee for you to reference. In the video it does show the power wire being ran to the front engine compartment and connected to the 12v jumper location. The instructions that I have also linked below show it being installed to the battery located under the seat. You can choose either option depending on which is easier for you to gain access to run the wiring. I do warn that loose wiring that runs under the carpet can chafe and cause issues so if you do choose that route to be sure the wiring is protected.
