Will Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver 76144 Disable Hands Free Lift Gate On 2021 Jeep Compass

Hi guys The new Jeep Compass facelift 2021 has an issue with the sensor for the electric tailgate vs hitch. Jeep claims you have to choose either since they placed it in the center of the car. Do you have any workarounds with this issue? Or heard about if it can be done? Thank you

I reached out to my contact at Draw-Tite and they have not heard of any issues regarding the hands free lift gate sensor not working on a 2021 Jeep Compass with the Draw-Tite # 76144 installed.
With that said typically a trailer hitch receiver will somewhat interfere with a hands free lift gate sensor, but not disable it. You would just need to place your foot on either side of the receiver and move it around a bit until you find the new sweet spot for the sensor.
After a few times of doing this it will become muscle memory on where to place your foot.
