Question:
How would you compare the Curt Assure Brake Controller to the Redarc Elite for my 2020 Toyota 4 runner?

The Curt Assure part # C49UR and the Redarc Tow Pro Elite part # RED44FR are pretty different in a lot of ways but they are similar in that they are both proportional which means they sense how hard you apply the vehicle brakes and apply a similar amount of trailer braking.
Where the Redarc wins is that it installs in a more convenient and out-of-sight location since only a knob installs on the vehicle dash. The Curt is a more traditional brake controller that mounts a "box" on the dash.
The Assure is pretty new (as of May 2021) which means we don't have a great feel on how reliable it is over time whereas the Redarc has proven to be rock solid and very reliable. In the past Curt controllers have been actually pretty unreliable though so I am always cautious to recommend them. I'd pick the Redarc hands-down over the Assure.
To install it on your 2020 4Runner you'd just need the install harness part # RED49FR and you'd be set.
