Flat Tow a 2018 Ford Explorer V6 3.5L Duratech

Question:

Hello Sorry for my English, I am a French Canadian Citizen, I translate with google I have a Ford explorer V6 3.5L Duratech 2018 4 AWD 4 x 4 with the towing package, I have installed a BX2668 Blue ox towing baseplate and a BX8848 4 diode tail light wiring kit and use a system. patriot II for braking and even before using it I have checked in the ford owners manual and they say it is impossible to tow my vehicle with the wheels on the ground with my RV, could you confirm me if possible or not if not why, should a 12v pump be added for transmission lubrication and should a vacuum pump be added to assist the brakes as long as the battery is disconnected. Looking forward to your response Thank you Guy

According to the online Owner's Manual (page 254) you can flat tow your 2018 Ford Explorer, with 3.5L engine, if you follow the directions in the manual. You cannot recreational flat tow the smaller engine.

The Blue Ox # BX2668 Base Plate Kit is a confirmed fit for your Explorer, as is the Blue Ox # BX8848 wiring kit. You may also need a High-Low adapter. I have attached an article explaining how to measure for one and a list of available adapters.

If you do not already have them, you will need safety cables like the Roadmaster # RM-645.

Finally, your Explorer requires the battery to be disconnected. A Roadmaster RM-766 will make this chore quick and easy - otherwise, get out the wrenches.
