We do have some installation videos of the Tekonsha Wiring Harness, # 119250KIT, but we have not had a chance to install it on a Kia Sorento yet. I've attached an installation video on another SUV, BMW X5 for you to check out. Keep in mind, the wire locations and colors are likely different from your Kia, so you will only want to use this video as an example of what the installation will involve rather than step by step instructions for your Kia.
Instead of using a wiring harness that requires you to test the circuites to determine the wire functions of your existing tail light wiring, you could instead use a plug-in style wiring harness like the Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness, # C56328. This wiring harness will be easier to install because it plugs into the ports on the tail light assemblies.
I have attached a link to a wiring installation video on a 2012 Kia Sorento for a similar wiring harness for you to check out.
To install either of these wiring harness, you will need to gain access to the tail light wiring. You will remove your tail light assemblies by removing the two screws holding it in place as shown in the video.
To install the T-Connector harness, # C56328, simply unplug the tail light wiring from the tail lights and plug in the wiring harness. The factory tail light wiring will then plug into the Curt harness. The only wires left to connect is the black power wire, which will attach to the positive post of the vehicle battery, and the white wire that should be grounded to a clean, bare metal surface. This is also shown in the installation video.
To install the # 119250KIT wiring harness, you will need to use a circuit tester to probe each of the wires to find the correct tail light wire to attach a wire from the wiring harness. Have someone in the driver seat activating each tail light function as you test the wires. Once you have found the correct wires for the brake lights, turn signals and tail lights, you attach each wire with a unique clamp to the appropriate wire on your Sorento. This clamp senses the wire function without cutting into the wir. The functions of each wire is indicated on the converter box of the harness. The last two wires are the black power wire and white ground wire.
