Trailer Hitch Receiver For Using a Cargo Carrier On a 2021 Toyota Highlander
Question:
Which model tow hitch receiver should I purchase for a 2021 highlander XLE hybrid? Not looking to tow, just want to hook up a cargo carrier. Spare tire does not exceed 18 inch wheel.

I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e75ZR for your 2021 Toyota Highlander. This hitch will work great with a etrailer Cargo Carrier # e98991. A Threaded Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin Lock # e99047 will allow you to eliminate the rattle in the hitch on the cargo carrier and also secure it to the vehicle with a built in lock.
It is a good idea to install the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT when installing the hitch. This will allow you to use Auxiliary Lights # C53201 on the back of the cargo carrier, if what you are hauling will block your taillights. The Mounting Bracket # 18144 will allow you to attach the harness to the tab on the Draw-Tite receiver.
The 60x24 etrailer Cargo Carrier # e98874 is a lightweight carrier at only 48lbs and is capable of supporting 500lbs. The inside dimensions on the tray are 60" long x 24" wide x 5-1/2" deep.
