Parts Needed To Install Redarc Tow Pro Elite RED44FR On 2015 Honda Odyssey

Question:

To whom it may concern: What parts do I need to install the redarc brake controller on a 2015 Honda Odyssey? Already installed one of your wiring kits of lights, and class 3 hitch, and air lift suspension. All 3 working great! Where do I need to look to see if Item # RED49FR will fit my vehicle to plug and play to the redarc control unit? I have a medium/heavy duty canoe trailer with flat rebar box and rack spaces for up to 6 canoes I recently picked upattached photo. Single axel envisioning probably 3500lbs with gear for gross weight max so I dont overload axel or my ability to tow. empty weight of trailer is 1000#s Trailer has old brakes that are in disrepair, and I would like to start fresh so which brake system would you recommend paring with the redarc control unit for this weight? What do I need in addition to redarc controller to get this to work. I have never had a trailer with brakes before and would like to do this right once. Thanks for your time and help! Cheers

I would be happy to recommend everything you need to add the Redarc Tow Pro Elite # RED44FR to your 2015 Honda Odyssey.

Your vehicle does not have a factory trailer brake controller port but that is ok, you will just need to hardwire the controller. Since you installed a 4-way connector already you will need to add a 7-way connector using # ETBC7 which will plug into your 4-way connector and require you to run a few wires. You will ground the white wire to the frame, extend the black wire to the battery of your vehicle with the included 40 amp circuit breaker, and extend the blue wire to where the # RED44FR will be installed. Using the no drill mounting bracket # 18140 will allow you to mount the 7-way connector to your trailer hitch receiver.

Once that is done you will use some left over wiring from the # ETBC7 to extend the black wire from the # RED44FR to the battery of your vehicle with the included 30 amp circuit breaker, ground the white wire, connected the blue wire to the blue wire extended from the 7-way connector, and attach the red wire to the cold side of the stop light switch that only has power when the brake pedal is pressed. Using a circuit tester like the # PTW2993 will help you find the correct stop light switch wire.

Now moving on to the trailer brakes, the correct brakes and hubs are going to be dependent on the axle on the trailer. You will need to pull one of the hubs and look for the bearing numbers stamped in the face of each bearing as shown in the included picture of the # L44649. If you can provide the bearing numbers I will be able to recommend the correct brakes and drums to replace the old brakes on your trailer.

I included a few videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
