What to do if youre Having Trouble Fitting a Rhino-Rack Roof Rack on a 2014 Toyota Prius

Question:

Can you do a video showing the install on a 2014 Prius? There are no existing rails at all The measurements in the DK195 instruction page resulted in both the front and the back bar width being off a few mm where the pad groove doesnt fit into the groove on the car on both sides. If I fit one side in then the other side is about half an inch short. It fits if I adjust both sides outward about 1/4 inch. I havent had an easy time fitting the back bar to where the foot doors will just go on as shown in this video. I finally got it but I havent managed to fit the foot doors on the front bar at all. The clamp is interfering with it and not allowing the foots door to go completely on and lock.

It sounds like you're having trouble fitting the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Bars, part # RRVA118B-2, on your 2014 Toyota Prius. To recap the parts, you should have the 2500 Series Legs, part # RRRLKVA, and the Custom DK Fit Kit, part # DK195.

While we don't have a video for the 2014 Prius (since we haven't had one to do this test on), we do have a video showing this on a 2008 Prius that I've linked to below. The fit kit used is slightly different, but the installation is the same.

If the measurements are making it so it doesn't fit just right on your Prius, then you may need to adjust them slightly. Manufacturers try to give precise measurements, but some adjustments are sometimes needed. Slide the feet along the bottom channels until you find the fitment you need.
