Hitch Extension Options
Question:
Thanks for the answer. Since the hitch extension is not recommended for rv, would the xc2 work with a front mounted tongue rack and if so, which one. Both bikes are together about 65 lbs. I have a 2020 Toyota Tundra.

We have the Yakima StraightShot Hitch Extension, # Y69VR and the RockyMounts Hitch Extender, # RKY10008, among others. The problem however is that most manufacturers state these type products are not to be used with accessories on RV hitches. The amount of sway the back of many RV's receive can cause a lot of torque to be placed on the hitch. There are other similar items such as these two but be aware of the recommendation to not use on an RV. Your best bet is to consider shifting how you load the bikes if you want to stay with the current bike rack. The swaying that can occur with bike racks can be mitigated with a strap to prevent that movement but the manufactures specs should be referred to.
