Do You Know What is Stopping Electricity when Using a Replacement Custom Multi-Tow Connecter?
Question:
Hi! I am getting NOTHING from my trailer connection on my 2004 Tahoe. No running lights no tail lights no turn signals no anything. I plugged a 4-way tester in and still got nothing. I thought the tester might be bad so I tried on my F-250 and got all functions, so I ruled that out. I checked the fuses in the engine compartment and inside cabin by the drivers door. Everything is fine. Im at a loss. Im pretty sure its simple because the lights were working yesterday. Im pretty sure its a fuse as there is no power getting to the harness just wonder which ones.

I went ahead and reached out to my contact at Hopkins about troubleshooting the Replacement Custom Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Way Trailer Connectors # 30955. She suggested two possible solutions. The first solution to check the grounding on the vehicle itself. It is important to make sure that the ground wire is securely attached to a clean, bare metal surface without any debris or corrosion that could be interfering. The second solution is to purchase a Circuit Tester Kit # PTW2993 to test the wires to see where the voltage stops. It is possible that there is a short somewhere in the wiring, and the only way to find the source of the problem is to see where the electricity stops in the wires.
If these tips do not help, feel free to reach back out and I would be happy to assist you further.
