What is the Difference Between the Curt C24ER and the Draw-Tite 36635 on a 2021 VW Atlas

This is a different Curt hitch than previous Atlas models. How does this compare to the Draw Tite?

The difference between the Curt # C24ER and the Draw-Tite # 36635 is pretty severe. The Curt is rated up to 6,000 pounds towing with a 900 pound tongue weight, whereas the Draw-Tite is rated up to 3,500 pounds towing with a 350 pound tongue weight

They will both most likely need to have an access hole enlarged a little to get the carriage bolts and spacers to fit inside the frame, but the Curt will require some trimming of the underbody fascia as well. The Draw-Tite does not require this as the receiver section is welded to the cross tube a bit differently.

The main difference between this will be the size of the receiver though. The Curt # C24ER has a 2 inch receiver opening and the Draw-Tite # 36635 has a 1 1/4 inch receiver opening.

So even though the Draw-Tite # 36635 does not require any modifications needed to get it installed, the Curt # C24ER will have a higher capacity and more options for bike racks and or cargo carriers. It is also assembled in the U.S. which is a plus.
