Can Roadmaster RM-910030-6 6-Pin Be Used to Replace 4-Pole Trailer Connector
Question:
I keep bending pins on the cheaper 4 flat connectors. Want something much more heavy-duty. Can I use one of these and just wire 4 pins instead of 6?

You could certainly do that if you wish, but if durability is what you're primarily concerned with, I'd use the
# PK11609 die-cast socket along with the # RM-910030-8 plug, versus the plastic 6 pin plug provided with the # RM-910030-6 plug you'd looked at. The metal socket would withstand abuse better than the plastic socket.
One thing to keep in mind, if you wire the vehicle and trailer this way, you'll have an issue if you ever try to to that trailer with another vehicle. You might be better off using a more robust connector like # W787264 for a 4 foot cable, # W787268 for an 8 foot cable or # W787270 for a 10 foot.
The Hopkins # HM38134 Easy-Pull is also a good choice, it's ergonomic design makes it easy to get a good grip without damaging the connector.
