Hauling 2 Electric Bikes On An Outback 298RE Travel Trailer
Question:
Hi, Im looking for a solution to carry our 2 new electric bikes on the back of our Outback 298re travel trailer. We are using a Thule, T2 Pro XT. With the rack and bikes, the weight is about 185#. Several of your 2inch receiver hitches claim to have a 500# tongue capacity. My concern is that heavy bikes put a stress on the rack that is unlike normal tongue weight. Have you any suggestions, or expert opinion as to my dilemma? Thank you very much, Dave

The Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 66" Wide Item # C13704 has a 500lbs tongue weight capacity which will easily hold the weight of the rack and two bikes. The Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount Item # TH83JV is rated for use on the back of motorhomes but not for travel trailers. Using it on the back of your travel trailer will cause stress on the bike rack and can cause damage. The Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount Item # S94FR is rated for use on pretty much everything and has a 70lbs per bike weight capacity.
