5th Wheel Contacting the Truck Bed
Question:
Hello. I have a rotaflex pin box on my 2021 Dutchmen Voltage 3615. I also have the BandW companion in my pickup. I cannot get enough clearance from the hitch and the pin box so as the FW does not come into contact with the bed rails of my pickup. I am towing with a 2017 GMC 2500HD Duramax that is stock with the exception of airbags. The BandW companion is set at the highest level possible and the rotaflex pin box is maxed out as well. Is there another pin box that will give me more clearance than the rotaflex and also provide me with the same benefits? My driveway has a steep down slope and then a V in the middle for drainage. When I come into my driveway the FW contacts my bed side rails. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

There is more than one Rota-Flex pin box, not knowing which model you have and what weight rating you are looking it is challenging for me to make best recommendation. However, please take a look at the Trailair Air Ride 5th Wheel Pin Box - Lippert 0719 - 18,000 lbs. # LC179879. Or you may need to go with a taller hitch such as the Curt Q25 # C16566, if you need a slider type hitch. If your RV, when connected to the tow vehicle is not level then the king pin and hitch may not be the problem point but that you need to raise the suspension on the RV. You may, if this is the issue, need to consider installing on the trailer an axle over-under kit (one per axle). We offer two such kits, # K71-384-00 for 2-3/8-inch diameter axles and # K71-385-00 for 3-inch axles.
