Troubleshooting Newly Installed LED Combination Tail Light Kit TLL56RK Not Working

Question:

I installed the trailer lights. I checked all the ground wires 3 seems excessive and still nothing. The 4 pin fits perfectly into the tow vehicle, I think that because the tow vehicle has separate tail lights and turn signals that I need a turns signal converter, but I am unsure which one to purchase. I would much rather put the converter on the trailer, and not on the tow vehicle, because we use the tow vehicle to tow other units that have separate turn signals and brake lights. The two vehicle has always worked with any unit we have towed, except for the trailer lights that we have purchased from etrailer.com.

I would be happy to help you get your trailer tail lights working correctly.

Since your tow vehicle has a 4-way flat connector, it has already been converted to combined wiring, as it would need atleast a 6-way connector to still be separate.

Now first things first, since none of the lights are working you will need to verify that the 3 grounds you mentioned, the ground on each tail light, and the main ground on the tongue of the trailer, are securely connected to bare corrosion free metal.

Next go to each light and make sure that the wires on the harness included with the # TLL56RK you purchased are connected to the corrosponding color on each tail light.

If all the connectors check out, use a 12v battery on each light, putting the white ground wire to the negative terminal of the battery and the green/yellow/brown wires one at a time to the positive terminal of the battery. This should light up each feature of the lights.

If the lights light up, then you will want to use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the 4-way connector on your tow vehicle to confirm it is sending power to the trailer.

If these steps do not fix the issue, let me know what you find, and we can go into more specific troubleshooting steps.

I included a video of the # TLL56RK for you to take a look at.
