Flat Tow 2021 Ford Ranger With Parts From Colorado
Question:
Please recommend the necessary parts to prepare a 2021 Ford Ranger for flat towing. I currently pull a Chevy Colorado with a Roadmaster All Terrain tow bar that uses a crossbar for the base plates and has a Demco stay and play duo braking system. I would prefer not to have to deal with a cross bar unless I have to. I would like to also have a built in braking system on the Ford Ranger and all the necessary wiring equipment. I had the Colorado flat tow equipment installed at your facility in Wentsville and you guys did a fabulous job. Will you be able to do the install for the Ford Ranger? If so what type of lead time would you need.

To flat tow your 2021 Ford Ranger you can use the Roadmaster # RM-524459-5 "Direct-Connect" base plate kit (instead of crossbar style) that will work with the Roadmaster # RM-522 "Falcon" att terrain, non-binding tow bar that you already have. You mentioned that you already have safety cables - other wise see the Roadmaster # RM-645 cables.
When your coach and towed vehicle are hitched together on level ground, the tow bar should be within 3” of level, otherwise you will need to add a High-Low Adapter. I have attached an article explaining how to measure for an adapter, and a link to a page showing all of our adapters.
You will additionally need a flat towing wiring kit like the Roadmaster # RM-152-98146-7.
You didn't mention if you are taking your supplemental braking kit to your new truck. If you need one check out the Brake Buddy # HM39524.
We will likely be able to install these parts when you are ready. Just let me know.
