Where to Feed the Security Strap of the Yakima FullBack on a 2019 Audi Q5

Question:

Doing a dry run installation of our Yakima Fullback 2 bike carrier. Can’t figure out how to use the security strap/cable , as there is barely enough space between the roof and trunk when opened to slide the straps through for anchors. No way I can get the bulky end of the security strap between the hinges. Any suggestions? Thanks.

If you are having trouble feeding the security strap of the Yakima FullBack, part # Y02634, through the top of your hatch, then you can feed it through the bottom.

The security strap is not meant as another point for anchoring. It's simply there as an anti-theft strap that will keep the rack from coming loose if someone tries to pull it off. As such, it doesn't matter if you feed this through the top or bottom of your hatch since either way the anchor will stay inside the vehicle.
