Kayak Carrier for 2022 Hyundai Tucson Without Roof Racks

Question:

I just purchased a 2022 Tucson and am now realizing that I may have made a little mistake with my roof rack needs. Let me say, though, that I am learning. I need crossbars that will fit my 2022 Tucsons factory flush roof side rails. I use them for my fishing kayak. My question is this: is there a solution to this issue so that I can get this kayak out on the water now?

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is bigger than the previous models which is why it is taking a little bit longer for roof rack brands to confirm a fit for it. While the bars will probably stay the same for the roof rack systems, it's the custom-fit fit kits that might change for the flush rails.

I called Yakima and Thule to confirm that there are no fits yet for your vehicle and they said they are both waiting for testing for compatibility. In the meantime, one option is to use foam blocks on your naked roof with the Malone Deluxe Kayak Carrier # MPG152. This has a 55 lbs weight capacity though and fishing kayaks tend to be on the heavier side so please check that.
