Availability Of Trailer Brakes For Lippert 5200lb Axle W/ Upside Down Brake Mounting Flange

Question:

I have the following trailer brake setup on on my 2010 Forest River Wildcat 25RL: Axles: Lippert LCI52-SB-86.5-68.5-NOSP-OS-L-65516-7225 Brakes: Axletek-12-GG B12E-02 One of the magnets on the passenger side broke off the support and the wires wrapped around the axle causing a short. I have been trying to find a replacement but have had no luck due to the position of the mounting holes on the back plate see pictures. It is as though the brake setup is upside down if you look at the location of the magnet in relation to the mounting holes. I would like to replace both right and left brakes on both axles, but have been unable to find the correct parts. Do you have anything that would work for my application?

Helpful Expert Reply:

Well you are not wrong in the fact that the brake mounting flange on your 5200lb Lippert Axles is upside down. According to my contact at Lippert these axles were special ordered that way, but there are no longer any replacement brakes in that orientation.

Minus replacing the axles the best option would be to have the factory brake mounting flanges removed and have an axle shop weld on new flanges # 4-44-1 in the standard orientation. This will allow you to use the # AKEBRK-7-SA you were looking at and have the magnet and adjust at the bottom as designed.

I know this wasn't the option you were hoping for, but I have never seen an axle set up this way and neither has my contact at Lippert who has been there over 10 years.

I included videos for both of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
