Are the Keys and Locks Used with the Thule Transporter Enclosed Cargo Carrier Unique  

Question:

Can the locks be re-keyed without buying new key cylinders? Also, what are the chances that another person who owns the same cargo carrier having the same key that will fit my lock i.e. Has Thule keyed every lock the same?

Expert Reply:

First, Thule has many, many different keys numbering in the hundreds for all of their products over the years. Though it is possible someone could have the same key, the chances of it are very low. The lock cores do have to be removed to change the key used in them. You can order key and lock sets in quantities as low as 2, # TH512 on up to 8 sets, # TH450800. They also come with the change key to change out the lock cores.
